Location

Praia Del Rey Golf and Country Club, is located 60 miles north of Lisbon on the Atlantic Coast. It lies between the historic mediaeval town of Óbidos, and Peniche, a commercial fishing port with its many seafood restaurants, yacht marina and surfing beaches.
The villa, completed in 2003 and built to a very high specification, overlooks the 17th green of the golf course, with a wonderful view of the sea. Set in its own garden with private swimming pool 30 ft. x 15ft., with four bedrooms (sleeping eight people, all in twin beds) and three bathrooms. Bath towels and bed linen are provided (but not swimming towels).

A fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, gas cooker, fridge/freezer and microwave, and utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer. Open plan living/dining room, 38 ft long. Extensive board games. Satellite and Cable TV, with over 500 channels, including 10 English speaking, video player and music centre. French windows lead onto a covered terrace and barbecue, both overlooking the swimming pool (pool heating available May to October if required).

Extensive covered and uncovered terrace areas on ground and first floors, and a large roof terrace for sunbathing, with wonderful views! And unusual interior garden/courtyard. All weather table tennis table.

Off-road parking for 3 cars. (Regretfully neither dogs nor smoking are permitted in the villa.)

Local Attractions

These include the offshore Berlenga Islands, a National Nature Reserve to which visits can be made during the summer, year-round surfing at nearby Baleal, among the best in Europe, fine beaches and a sailing school on the Óbidos Lagoon. In the region are the major shopping and cultural centres of Caldas da Rainha, a spa town dating back hundreds of years, the religious centre of Fatima and the famous monasteries at Batalha and Alcobaça. Many nearby fishing villages and inland towns/villages have their own particular character.

Golf

The 18 hole golf course at Praia Del Rey is one of the top 15 in mainland Europe and was rated No.1 in Portugal in the Peugeot Golf Guide in 2003, and No.80 in the world by Golf World in 2005 - part links and part parkland, testing but fair, with stunning views of the Atlantic and some beautiful inland holes. The management of both the course and the local terrain take special interest in preserving the ecology of the area. Excellent practice putting green, driving range and bunker areas, available with/without professional tuition. Other golf courses are nearby and in the Lisbon area.

The main clubhouse, open to all, has an excellent restaurant, which serves meals throughout the day, including breakfast. It is a 4 minute walk from the villa, and has a bar, TV room, sun terrace, a new extensive indoor games room, and the golf pro-shop all located in the same building.

Travel

Flights to Lisbon are frequent, and inexpensive if travelling off-peak. Changeover day is Monday.

Car hire at reasonable rates from the local Portuguese company Auto Jardim, as well as Avis, Budget, Europcar, and other main brands. Praia del Rey is about 60 minutes drive from Lisbon Airport.

Special Rental Rates for 2006

Much of the building in the close vicinity of the villa has now been completed, but there are two plots in the local area which could still be under development. The 2006 rental rates for Villa Reggubo are some 20 - 30% below the market rate, and reflect the fact that building is still taking place on the 600-acre complex. As owners, we spend a lot of time in the villa and have not found the building work a disruptive element. We believe the rates represent excellent value for a fine active or passive holiday!

Rates include:-
Change of bed linen, and house cleaning once a week and after your departure.
Bath towels but not swimming towels, are included.
House heating is extra for months of April/May/October/November at cost.

Additional Options:-
Pool Heating (80 pounds a week), Additional Maid Service and Additional Laundry by arrangement. There is no charge for the Travel Cot or Normal Cot and High chair.

Damage Deposit
A damage deposit, Ł200 per week booked, will also be payable with the balance of rental dues. Please make out a separate cheque for the appropriate amount. This will be returned in full within 14 days of your leaving date, subject to our receiving a satisfactory report from our management company after your stay.
