Local Attractions These include the offshore Berlenga Islands, a National Nature Reserve to which visits can be made during the summer, year-round surfing at nearby Baleal, among the best in Europe, fine beaches and a sailing school on the Óbidos Lagoon. In the region are the major shopping and cultural centres of Caldas da Rainha, a spa town dating back hundreds of years, the religious centre of Fatima and the famous monasteries at Batalha and Alcobaça. Many nearby fishing villages and inland towns/villages have their own particular character. |
| Golf The 18 hole golf course at Praia Del Rey is one of the top 15 in mainland Europe and was rated No.1 in Portugal in the Peugeot Golf Guide in 2003, and No.80 in the world by Golf World in 2005 - part links and part parkland, testing but fair, with stunning views of the Atlantic and some beautiful inland holes. The management of both the course and the local terrain take special interest in preserving the ecology of the area. Excellent practice putting green, driving range and bunker areas, available with/without professional tuition. Other golf courses are nearby and in the Lisbon area. |
Praia D'el Rey Golf and Country Club Facilities The main clubhouse, open to all, has an excellent restaurant, which serves meals throughout the day, including breakfast. It is a 4 minute walk from the villa, and has a bar, TV room, sun terrace, a new extensive indoor games room, and the golf pro-shop all located in the same building. |

Travel Flights to Lisbon are frequent, and inexpensive if travelling off-peak. Changeover day is Monday. Car hire at reasonable rates from the local Portuguese company Auto Jardim, as well as Avis, Budget, Europcar, and other main brands. Praia del Rey is about 60 minutes drive from Lisbon Airport. |
Special Rental Rates for 2006
Much of the building in the close vicinity of the villa has now been completed, but there are two plots in the local area which could still be under development. The 2006 rental rates for Villa Reggubo are some 20 - 30% below the market rate, and reflect the fact that building is still taking place on the 600-acre complex. As owners, we spend a lot of time in the villa and have not found the building work a disruptive element. We believe the rates represent excellent value for a fine active or passive holiday! |
